Officina Typographica (Latin for printing office) was a constellation located east of Sirius. It was created by Johann Bode in the late eighteenth century, and included in his star atlas Uranographia. It was used at least in one other star atlas, but quickly fell out of use.

Jackson Alves - SOL BEER Sign painting and chalk lettering

This project was born during the summer of 2014.
For the first time in many years I spent my summer holidays in my hometown, Palermo (Sicily).
I decided to create this little project bringing together three of my huge passions: calligraphy, photography and the sea.
And since I have not seen a sea so beautiful for years I wanted to create a project that would replace the word SEE the word SEA, precisely because the sea has filled my eyes from the first moment I dove into it.
I used different techniques and tools, and the entire project, 20 pictures were published day by day on my profile of Instagram.
20 days sea, 20 pieces of the project. One a day.
Happy to introduce you NOW I SEA.

Everything Fades Away

I need to learn to do calligraphy on a larger scale for future art projects so an industrial size white board seemed to be the most practical solution. I left the camera running in my studio for a while and this little edit is the result. Recorded 29th July, 2014.

The music is ‘Luna’ by Dirk Maassen, I am a big fan of Dirk’s. I feel his music finds a sweet spot where tradition and modernity meet. It sounds very contemporary to me but draws on history. This is what I try to achieve visually in my work, so a good match I feel.

My first bit of self initiated work for a while.

I couldn’t let the World Cup go by without making something football related, so I took inspiration from Nike’s awesome #RiskEverything campaign and set about responding to it in my own way. Hope you dig it.
